Welcome to a new Retro's Blog and Scott Cawthon is at it again with a new Five Nights At Freddy's game just in time for Halloween. FNAF (initials for the title) has been popular in these last few years all because of the interesting lore of the story. Even the fans have done so many things for the series such as made unofficial songs and comic shorts. There's one new thing they have been doing and that is making fan games off the official titles. They also went out of their way to take different characters from other series and replacing the animatronics from FNAF. However, this comes off as a blatant ripoff in so many ways that most of these are actually terribly designed. Despite the terribly designed knockoffs, believe it or not, I actually managed to find a few decent ones. This is either Five Nights at Wario's and its sequels or another one with Sponge Bob in the Krusty Krab. Unfortunately, this is not what is the top best but of the top worst designed ones. 5. Five Nights at Chucky E. Cheese It's funny that there's a FNAF knockoff of Chucky E. Cheese that made it on the list considering this series is based on the brand. The usual gameplay of checking the cameras and closing the door to the office when Chucky comes close to it is all present. However, the gameplay is very water down as each character aside the chef has the same challenge, I mean, why do the animatronics have the same challenges throughout each night? The graphics were literally ripped from still images of the place whether it was from a website or actual photos taken by someone visiting the restaurant. That causes the game to have a forceful creepy atmosphere, unlike the original series where it felt genuine. Despite there being still images in those FNAF series, at least they were authentically created by a professional designer. The theme is Chucky and his friends somehow become haunted and tries to terrorize the security guard by slowly creeping up to his office. Like most of these, I can tell the designer didn't care whether he or she was being lazy. They probably wanted to see how people would react if Chucky was suddenly converted into a FNAF game. Too bad that the finish is terribly executed resulting in a poorly made ripoff. 4.Five Nights at Team Rocket's It seems the standard is getting lower and the gimmicks just keep on getting worse. Yep, there is actually a Pokemon based game with this one taking place at the hideout of Team Rocket. Your job is to check the cameras for the evil Pokemon as they creep slowly to your room. I can tell this was done similar to Wario's but it's terribly executed as the jump scares and gameplay literally have no effort put into it. The jump scares are either plushy Pokemon toys or official images cut out from a picture using Photoshop. That is just plain laziness and them appearing on the screen with no animation or a sound makes it come off very stupid. Even when they appear in the camera feeds on the screen they are cut photos from either the games or an official image from somewhere. The graphics much like the jump scares are taken from realistic images found on Google and are Photoshopped with darker colored settings. It's true that the Wario titles did the exact same thing as well, however, it still had the creepy environment done right. Even the jump scares and characters on the camera feeds had creepy animation effects from the FNAF Wario series. The only thing this ripoff got right was playing a cute version of the first season's intro theme from the anime similar in the Wario titles with the original Mario theme. It makes this come off creepy but that is really the only thing that redeems this game in any way. 3.Five Nights at Thomas 2 Just when you think FNAF knockoffs couldn't get any worse they just continue to do so with Thomas the Train. That literally is the worst gimmick used for a knockoff yet and it's really sad the first got a sequel that's barely better than the original. Your job this time is to watch for the train characters from the show and close any of the doors while checking the cameras. The ripoff doesn't even make any sense as why would large trains even fit inside a Chuck E. Cheese building let alone in the tight areas. What also doesn't make sense is how are they moving without tracks? These trains would destroy the inside of building just by moving alone. It's even more stupid that when you check the cameras the trains appear like large toys but when the characters get to the doors they are suddenly big. The gameplay is a poor man's version of FNAF as it barely has simple features with a flashlight, closing the doors and using the coal oven to power the building. I'm convinced that just like Frozen and My Little Pony knockoffs, this was done on purpose as a joke. 2. Five Nights at Frozen Must I say anything at all about how ridiculous this sounds? Yeah, a Chuck E. Cheese version of Frozen where animatronic princesses try to dress you up if they get you. Basically, the story has the villain from the movie being punished for his crimes and has to work at this pizzeria. The animatronics is Elise, Anna, and Rapunzel (who serve as Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica), and Merida (represents Foxy). Each princess has the same exact challenges as the original four animatronics from FNAF. The game is hardly scary as their appearances barely even alters unlike the other fanmade titles. Even their jump scares were lazily put together with them just charging at the screen with their still images. Even Merida and Elise had the exact positions as Foxy and Freddy, I mean come on they could have been a little original. Another thing if this is a FNAF version of Frozen then why the hell is Merida from Brave and Rapunzel in here. Should this be called Five Nights at Disney especially when the two other princesses are here too. It also doesn't help that the gameplay is badly glitched as you can see the animatronics through the closed doors of the office when shining a light on them. It's clear the designer of this knockoff was doing this as a joke because who would take a FNAF ripoff of Frozen seriously. 1.Five Nights at Thomas As I mentioned with the sequel, this is the worst gimmick one yet and the first game is actually much worse. The gameplay has you watching one room just checking a single hallway from Thomas trying to come through. All you do is check the hall by using a flashlight, close it, and put coal into the burner oven to keep the electricity up. That is it and there are no other rooms to check or a camera system to use. There are also no other characters with their own challenges but solely Thomas. This makes the Chuck E. Cheese one look good as that too suffered from the same thing but at least that had a camera system and an amount of animatronics moving around every room. It's really sad that the designer went out of his or her way to make not one but three terrible sequels. They are barely better than the first one while at the same time this series doesn't have any form of quality. It's hilarious how bad some of these were which came off not only amateurish for any designer but were sad attempts to recreate what's popular. How they could get the gameplay wrong with FNAF's basic features is anyone's guess and the designs are really not that complicated. I could understand if they were doing something original then that would be one thing but here they just copy and paste. The graphics were rather pathetic showcasing little effort as each game's environments were either poorly made or ripped from some other source. This fails to create an atmosphere that the FNAF series is known to do even when the jump scares don't freak you out anymore. The theme for each was another problem which leads me to believe that many of these games had to be made with the intention of being a joke. Like I said before who the hell would take a ripoff of Frozen or Thomas the Train seriously. Exactly nobody and certainly not fans of the FNAF series who would've tried these games probably to get a good laugh. Even Five Nights at Wario's had way more effort put into its series then these poorly made fan games. At least we know that despite these being the worse along with several others that were poorly made, there are some good ones out there still. Check back next time on Retro's Blog as I will go over the Top Five Best FNAF Knockoffs.
