Welcome to the first edition of a Zelda Classic walkthrough and I wanted to start this off with Ballad of a Bloodline Deluxe Edition. Twilight Knight and CastChaos' quest can come off cryptic by many even when looking for the right hints. That's where this walk through comes in as some of the quests can make the players want to search for answers. I will admit BOAB at the start took me almost over two hours to find the items needed to progress to the first level. Of course, I will go over this down the line when I get a chance to review this version of the quest. After a long introduction, we begin in Kakariko Village and this time the love interest gets to join you too. Once you gain control of Knil (the story's Link), leave his house and walk north past the shops. A lone house in the middle will be along the path and inside Myra and her father will have a long dialogue about the couple's adventure. Once the story portion is over, leave the house as we will need to gather a few items before leaving the town. Boomerang To begin go into the shop that sells a fish for 100 rupees (an old man in red stands outside). When you get inside, move to the right where a female NPC in green is standing. She will have a question mark over her head so walk through the wall where an indent is marked on the floor. Knil will enter a hidden room and a boomerang will be there for you to take. Blue Lantern For the next tool you will need to get bombs in some form (whether it's buying them or killing enemies). Once you get the bombs, enter Myra's house to blow the shutter down facing the entrance. Go inside and retrieve the lantern from the chest at the top center near right corner of the screen. Slashing Ability Some of you are probably thinking that we are stuck with stabbing forward throughout the game. Actually, slashing at an angle is in this quest but you need to find where to learn this mechanic. With the lantern in hand follow the first path north from Myra’s House that is east until you reach a screen of a few small trees with a tall one almost centered. On the right side of the screen is a small lone tree so use the lantern to burn its hidden door. Inside is an NPC so use the lantern on a touch to your right and now you could slash. Tile and Empty Bottle Now you will need a tile (the step ladder in this quest) but it cost 150 rupees along with an empty bottle at 99 rupees. The shop that sells these two items is found in southern west side of the town in a corner inside a brown shack. Exit the Village from the south east entrance and keep moving right until reaching a heart piece inside a fence. Don't worry about that for now as we can't get to it at the moment. Move one screen down and a small pond should be there so cut the grass until a hole appears. It's a single underground room filled with ropes. Kill all the enemies on this screen and you will receive a gold rupee worth 200. Try to find enemies to kill in Hyrule field until reaching the max of 255 rupees. Go back to the brown shack that sells the tile and empty bottle to purchase them. Myra's Gem Go into Knil's house to retrieve Myra's gem. The next things are optional and can be done through this section and after if you want. There are eight heart pieces available to get once you obtain the items listed above as well as a Super Bomb and the Half Magic in the Graveyard. Collecting Heart Pieces Heart Piece #1 The first heart piece is found near the south entrance to the Village so move past Knil's house. Then move left one screen and a blue Moblin will be waiting and you must kill it for the heart piece to appear. The heart piece will appear behind the tree so make sure to search for it. Heart Piece #2 The second heart is in Hyrule Field under a patch of grass leading to another underground room. You get to it by following the same northern path behind Myra's house to the screen with the tall tree where the slash mechanic was learned. Go south from the tall tree and a patch of grass with a lighter shade of green will be there. Enter the hole and kill all the Octorocks to obtain the second heart piece. Heart Piece #3 The third heart is located in a grove of trees on the left side of Hyrule Castle. Upon leaving the Village from the south east entrance, keep heading right until reaching a small grove of red trees. From there walk north and a large grove of big trees will be there. Kill all the enemies and it should appear on top of the stump. Heart Piece #4 Inside the Village is a group of NPCs south of Myra's House and a bush is above a man playing an instrument. Use the lantern on that bush and it will take you to a hidden room with the heart piece laying there. Heart Piece #5 From the south east entrance of the Village move right to the same grove of red trees you saw before. Walk left from the screen instead and another grove of trees are in this area. On the left side of the screen use the lantern to burn a hidden entrance on a tree with orange leaves and inside will be the heart piece. Heart Piece #6 Exit from the north Entrance of the Village and make a left from the windmill. Enter the south western part of Hyrule and keep walking on the left passed a few screens. Stop until you see a whirlpool in the water and on the right of the screen is indent in the ground. Bomb the indented patch of dirt and a hole will appear and inside is a heart piece to take with no enemies or a puzzle. Heart Piece #7 The seventh heart piece is hidden within a cave near a waterfall in the left part of this map. To get there head north from the windmill and pass the bridge using the tile. Then head left but watch out for tektites, a dark nut and boulders on the way. At the end of the path is a dock so continue south until a ladder appears. Make your descent down the ladder on the next screen (fourth caption) and cross the gap. Keep walking down the bridge and then make a left and south of that is a water way. Head down another ladder and on the next screen then turn left as two northern branches on the water way will be there. Head north from that path on the left side and there will be a gap between the watery ground and a wooden ladder. Cross the gap with the tile and head right through the waterfall to the next screen. On the next area bomb the wall and get the heart piece inside. Heart Piece #8 In a valley next to the same lake with the heart piece you got from the cave near the waterfall, take the first watery path on your left north of the ladder. On the other side of the pond is a brown cucco that blocks the way. Use the lantern on it so the cucco can move and now walk into the valley. In the south from the entrance there will be a white rock standing on the left side of the rocky area. Use a bomb to blow it open and enter the hole where you must kill all the red Moblins to receive your prize. Magic Container #1 Head to Myra's House and on the same screen take rocky dirt road that is passed the small farm. In the center of the path is an indent on the ground so bomb it to open a hole. Inside is a room with an old man who rambles as the magic container sits in the center for you to grab. Magic Container #2 On the same road walk east further from the open hole where you got your first magic container. Once you pass two screens a tree stump will stand there by a bunch of rocks. First use the lantern to burn it away and then use a bomb on the dirt patch to blow open another hole. Be careful as a red landmole awaits and must be killed in order to get your second magic container. The next parts of this walk through are optional items to get and you don’t have to get them now. However, if you are those player who want these items now to help at the start then get them. Half Magic The half magic is found under a grave where the patch of dirt shines over it in the Graveyard. To reach this area exit again from the south east entrance of the Village and keep moving all the way right through Hyrule Field. When reaching the farthest wall move south to the bottom right corner where two small trees and a house are located. Use the lantern to burn the green bush and enter the Graveyard. To find the hidden staircase under the shiny dirt you must wait to it gets dark to have access to an underground room. To enable the night to come, head to the top right corner of the area and step on a patch of grass and it should get dark. Be careful as the stalfos and wizzrobes are a little too powerful for you to handle at the moment. On top of that without the Lens of Truth you can only see their thin outlines. The grave is two screens north from the west entrance and a shining patch of dirt will be there. Go above the grave and push it down to reveal a staircase. All you have to do is enter and the Half Magic will automatically be yours. Super Bomb Location The Graveyard also contains the Super Bomb which is in the bottom right corner of the area. However, you must wait until nightfall to get the item too just as you did with the Half Magic. You can skip getting this if you want as the Super Bomb isn't needed for anything at this point. Magic Ring In the same valley where heart piece #8 is found there is a Magic Ring to obtain and it regenerates the magic meter. As you enter the valley walk around a rock formation that leads to a hole with green grass in the center. Bomb the top wall in the hole to reveal an entrance and inside give the first NPC the fish and in the next room give up 10 rupees to another one. The final door will house the Magic Ring so pick it up and leave the valley. Increase Bomb Amount On the next screen from where you got the sixth heart piece in south western part of Hyrule Field, head for the stairs east from that hole. Walk along the ridged path until you reach the end as a discolored square will be on the ground. Bomb the square area and enter the hole as an NPC charges 50 rupees to increase bomb holding from 8 to 12. Hidden 100 Rupees North of the Windmill is a marked wall so move past the bridge and bomb it and go inside to get 100 rupees. I would save this for later as you bought the key items needed to progress to the next area. Moving on to Lake Hylia With the boomerang, lantern, bombs, tile, Half Magic and five hearts you should be set for now. From Knil's house enter the southern Hyrule Field and head south to the wooden bridge where a path with a guard under it stands watch. Wait until he looks away like the other do and enter Lake Hylia. In the Lake Hylia area, move right and then down from the entrance and Myra should be standing in front of a boat. Walk into it and the boat will take you to another section of the lake. Upon arriving go to the staircase and hit the sleeping moblin with the boomerang to gain access to the new area. The next part will take us to the first dungeon of this quest but first we need to head to Zora's Domain.
End of Part 1
